¿Qué-son-las-oleaginosas-300x199Son vegetales que poseen aceites y grasas que pueden ser extraídas a través de procesos adecuados o bien pueden consumirse sus semillas o sus frutos para obtener grasas monoinsaturadas y poliinsaturadas que son consideradas más saludables para el organismo que las saturadas (animales) ya que carecen de colesterol y además contienen vitaminas y minerales.

Algunas fuentes para la extracción de aceite vegetal que pueden ser utilizadas para el consumo humano son: pulpa de la aceituna (fruto del olivo), la soja, la palma, tanto del fruto como del hueso, el sésamo, el arroz, el maíz, el lino, el cártamo, la canola, la almendra, la nuez, la avellana, las pepitas de uva, las semillas de calabaza, la semilla de                                                                                       ahuacate, entre otras.

Las frutas oleaginosas que pueden ser consumidas como snacks saludables siempre que se coman en cantidades moderadas ya que son muy calóricas, incluyen castañas, nueces, almendras, avellanas, cacahuates, pistaches, semillas de calabaza, entre otras.
